Catching up

Season Ramblings:

We got tickets to the Diamondbacks/ Cardinals game in St. Louis this year. I was hoping that I would get to meet Chris Snyder because I’ve been a huge fan of his for a few years. Last summer, I got a Snyder shirt and took it with me, just in case I “ran into him”. He was walking from the bullpen before the game, so I yelled his name and held up the shirt. He came over (!!!!), signed my shirt and took a picture with me. We stay at the visiting teams’ hotel when we spend the night down there. While hanging out in the lobby, I was lucky enough to meet Daron Sutton (announcer), Mark Grace (announcer/ former 1B), Mark Reynolds (3B) and one of the team’s owners. It was a pretty good trip.

After Snyder was traded to PIT, we got tickets for one of those games. I took a sign for Chris and since I didn’t think he’d be playing I didn’t think I’d get much use out of it. Well, he was walking out to the bullpen (with gear on, he was catching!!!) and I held up the sign. I got a huge smile -which was cool, because I haven’t seen it much- then when he was walking back to the dugout, I got another smile, made my season.

We got more into the Rangers this season. We’ve been fans for a few years, but started getting into them more this year. I think we picked the right time.

I’d sent resumes to them last season and got a letter back from Nolan Ryan, so that made me a bigger fan. I was so happy when he was named as one of the owners. I think he’ll do great things for them.

The Cliff Lee trade was made on mom’s birthday, so we consider that her gift… which was supossed to lead to my birthday gift of a World Series win. They got close, but I think they’ll have a shot the next few years, too.

The offseason so far has sucked. Trying to find things to watch is not fun. I can’t wait until College Basketball starts…..

I have an internship with the Chicago White Sox Training Academy next summer. I’m excited, but nervous. It’ll be my first time away from home (living in a dorm), but I’m excited because it’s with a MLB organization (and, really, an NBA one too, the Bulls also help with funding). The last two interns are now working for the Sox and the Miami Dolphins. I was told it will show me really quickly if I want to work in baseball. I’ve worked for some jerks in local baseball, I think that shows my dedication =)

I’ll try and update more this offseason, I promise.
